Where you first spawn in are large standing stones with carvings on them.Place the electric deer head on the deer looking ones hook.That will energize it so you can use its power.

I actually found there to be more than enough warning about the edge of the world... we do have maps in the upper right corner.

You are probably right, considering that it is part of the Undead faction. Then again, by the time you get Silver weapons you will be in the Mountains so it doesn't really matter.

I plan on starting a new world anyways. The only decision I need to make is, start a new character or use an old, experienced one...maybe both...
