Enemies may not destroy saplings, but you waving a mace around will destroy your sapling. Its unfortunate that this happens, this is why fences are so great!

I have this issue fairly frequently. Yes, exiting the game and relogging in fixes it, but still annoying.

It seems relogging fixed this issue, going to leave this up so if anyone else has this issue of not removing an item just relog and it should fix it apparently

You can also choose not to destroy it, mobs will not respawn there anyways. One of my bases is an old Fuling camp.

You can plant your seeds and after growing you can pick the carrots. After that you can plant the carrots to get seeds of it. Each planted carrot gives you 3 seeds at the end.

Same thing works with Turnips. I just got turnips so am full fledged farmer now.

The boars in great enough numbers will climb onto each others backs to escape their enclosure. Building a pit is a great idea. Surrounding that pit with a fence is a great idea.

If you decide to visit the Firelands you can farm Surtling Cores, Coal and Flametal. You can mine Flametal and smelt it, but currently there are no recipes to use it with.
