Don't have any fire or torches near it, and try feeding it mushrooms/carrots/turnips as well. If it can see you (eye icon) while you're taming it, it'll get startled so just sit back somewhere and wai..

Don't really need Coop even, tbh. As long as it's pretty close to the ship, the Stamina drain is negligible.

Harpoon serpents is one of the few reasons you need coop.

Usually I'm one tier behind. So when I have bronze gear, I use flint arrows. When bronze gets obsolete, then I make arrows out of it. And so on...Aside from that, I always carry flame arrows.
