for me, valheim crashed on old worlds with my old character. made a new character and they load just fine.

Do you have Valheim + installed? I had problems with messages on my screen I couldn't get rid of till I deleted my Valheim + game and installed vanilla Valheim.

Yeah, it's in development. They've made some major improvements over this year but final optimisation is something you leave until all game mechanics are locked down.

My fps went way up since this patch, not sure what happened to you but mine is fine.

You do realize that you are playing an EA game and this game actually is demanding. Games with the ability to build and change the environment etc. always are more demanding than games with static env..
