Don't really know about rust... any game like this that had any kind of forced PVP I never played.. so that is pretty much every other survival game as far as I know.People can play PVP but it's rare ..

The game does not work like that. This isn't an MMO.Servers are virtually all private or friends only.. each server, unless modded, only has 10 person capacity. You can host your own dedicated server ..

Just see what the devs have said in the release videos and fireside chat. There are reasons their doing what their doing. New update is coming now with crap load of balance/progression fixes

For me it was the mods causing problems. Uninstalled all the mods and voila working again.

I wouldn't think so. I think the devs are just trying to renew the interest of anyone who's dropped off so they commit more hours to the game.
