Depends. I have no issue getting a point and restarting a game. I’ve done it a dozen times with this one. If you don’t like that then maybe waiting for new content is best for you.

The bridges over my moat are pine wood logs, the cart crosses with ease a whole single log gap while mobs get confuzzled, so in my experience doesn't need to be that small of a gap to work

My ocean base is solid, nothing gets in but mine is built on a super small island in the middle of the ocean, just prepare to take on some water during storms and high seas
