You can drag it over hills/obstacles if youre careful. I've never had to make a road, i just chop/dig away at anything I cant go around. It's particularly helpful for lumber trips.

Not possible to do without mods, or perhaps dev commands. Oak trees don't drop seeds plus there's a space limit on growables.
