You can raise dirt on tar pits which is a worse method than just digging.... but that's what I did the first time I encountered them.

If the final product is good enough I dont care how much time needs to develop, at least from indies, wich can struggle a lot more than big companies more interested in release dates and money.

Fog of War only applies to the map, not to the landscape, so you won't have less fog in the game after exploring. That's just weather, or mistlands. There are mods both for normal fog and for mistland..

Tar pits sometimes are near Fuling camps. Put on fast armor with Eikthyr blessing and run through the Fuling camp and draw them to the tar pit. They'll clear it out and then you can do the drain-and-w..

Kill the blobs with a bow, set up a workbench so they don't respawn (use your anti poison potion). Dig a deep tench to empty the pit out.That's what I do.

while in Mist drop your draw distance to minimum. The game may try and render stuff miles off but the mist prevents you seeing it so why not reduce the overhead on your card that way at least?

The real weakness of the skelly towers is the holes, because that means the troll can still see you and take the swing.
