The axe is the weakest weapon. The spear is actually one of the strongest. Low stamina use, low resource cost, moderate damage and good Z axis coverage down.

Absolutely. Takes a little bit of brain power and can be a little bit grindy on your own but it's entirely playable solo. There's no NPCs until you get to Mistlands, but that's end game.

I'm taking a wild guess that secondary targets will be attacked if the creature is agrod but can't reach the player; and otherwise ignored. That's assuming it is a secondary target.

The skulls always have ticks near them so be on the look out for them. Provided a gjall wasn't nearby and dropped some ticks then they are a clear indicator that you are near a skull.

I was concerned with skipping skulls too, but after finding one I realized they are pretty obvious. You could be unlucky with only finding ribs, just remember the ribs texture is the same as skulls.Al..
