Also keep in mind that mobs are stronger the more people that are in the game.

Solo is more than viable (I play almost entirely so) and you will not have to cheez any bosses at all.Like any other survival game if you go into an area or into a fight prepared you will be fine. Sol..

Its a bit riskier, you being the only target for the mobs and all. Also, dying in solo is much more of a pain if you didn't prepare for it, but its perfectly fine.

It's probably something they're doing on the side, like how the updates were for swamp, mountain and fishing were done.

Mistlands before the update wasn't a challenge, it was tedious.
