Maybe they didn't want you digging holes before killing Eykthyr? He would be easy to trap in a trench or ditch. Maybe they realized that players will always do what they didn't expect them to do.

To me. it explains the extended wait most complain about. I mean, they scrapped and reworked the entire Mistlands.From the landscape, to enemies, etc,etc. This isn't something that can be done quickly..
