Chests make all the difference from my experience. The muck picking drops seem fairly consistent on average.

A few days ago i stumbled into a crypt with two short hallways on the left and right sides - each of which had only one of those long rooms with nothing in it - result: 0 Iron ;)

Crypts are incredibly random. I ran two of them yesterday.... first one yielded 22 iron (worst crypt ever), and the next had nearly 250.

Leather scraps do drop from muddy scrap piles, although scrap iron should be more common. So perhaps a bit of bad luck, I dunno. Are you only getting leather scraps from the piles?

It all depends on bugs, and what else the devs want to put in.I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a month to hit the public servers.Till then I am going to explore various base building ideas.
