Yeah no, its not going to be like that. The situation is such that 3 big updates are currently planned, each of which will introduce a new end-game biome. The first one, Mistlands, will drop later this year, possibly in a few months time if everything goes well. Additionally a content update is planned for the Ocean biome at some point. After these patches the game is "finished". They may add more things afterwards, but again no paid content is planned.
