How it's done.
1. Make the trolls work for you untill you can make a pickaxe.

2. To get Iron easy. You need 10 wood and 4 finewood. At the crypt build a workbench and place a chair as close as possible to the gate facing inwards. Sit down and when standing up. Viola, you're in.

3. For Silver you can use a stagbreaker or any other sledgehammer. When you smash it to the ground and you see the message " To Hard " you know it silver underneath. You can be fooled by Obsidian stones so make shure there is no one around.

4. Don't die.

The crypts glitch is really the thing that ruins it. I wish there was a way to get iron without neither the key nor this exploit. And yeah, you do get iron drops sometimes but it's a bit too rare to really be viable.

There's really not that much that you need iron for. You need the pickaxe, and there are some station upgrades, but I can't think of much else. You can get silver in bronze armor to get wolf armor, and that's plenty through plains.

I did a no-boss, no-map, no-portal, permadeath run, but then got bored, since the only event that you get is the forest one.

I don't like the bosses, and I like the challenge of no-boss, but then there's no challange in end-game unless you go out to search for it.

That said, pounding mud for hours to just get a few scraps is no fun either! :-)
