I beg to differ on this particular point. Except for the Queen, I have killed everything in the game using only a one-handed axe and a bow.

Still doesn’t change the fact that axes are fundamentally weaker than swords due to the latter’s lack of a multi-target penalty, since both deal the same damage, have essentially identical dps and deal the same damage type.

Imo, maces are the best melee weapons, followed by atgeirs, swords, spears and knives. Axes are the worst. I don’t consider sledge weapons to be primary weapons, so I didn’t include them (I find them useful, though)
