You can get a finewood bow w/ out a bronze ax by chopping down trees near a birch or oak.

You can roll a log into an oak till it falls, then roll that oak log into another oak until it falls, then bump them into each other till they break, netting you plenty of fine wood for a finewood bow, Then kiting Trolls becomes much more reasonable and you can work on your troll armor.
