This is exactly why it's important to stay fully fed at ALL times, even during times when everything seems peaceful and "safe",... Almost anything can hurt you, even walking on a hill.
i think i know what OP is talking about but honestly the solution is to just not be lazy or stingy with food. even when you are just messing around your camp, farming or building, you should always have good health and stamina. its like leaving the house with clean underwear.
Yeah, there's a lot of things that can go wrong in a hurry if you get complacent and skip food "because x thing I'm doing right now shouldn't be dangerous." After a close call or two (plus a few friends dying during construction projects lol) I got into the habit of keeping all 3 food buffs on me. Even red mushrooms and 2 different berries is better than nothing, but something like cooked deer/boar/neck meat + boar jerky + honey gives decent stats for how easy it is to make. Though I do recommend upgrading the "cheap/lazy combo" as you get better food, because suddenly having to fight off a late-game raid with early game food is not ideal.
And yes, I know 1 high HP food + 2 high stam foods is probably better for non-combat stuff, it's just that if you are feeling stingy and don't want to waste "the good stuff," it's easier to get into the habit of staying buffed all the time if you start with meadows meats and honey, both things that you should easily get a surplus of pretty early on, unless you have a hard time finding beehives.
