I would have done that on my regular ruleset save. I will use the devcommands if I get stuck or if it will take me hours to recover. I will use them freely in build saves and In my hard rulesets there is no commands at all, i would have started a new character and left the corpse to rot. I think with you coming out here, you already know the answer to your own question. It's your game save, don't feel bad for playing in a way that makes you happy.
