Those are nice tips, more or less already known by many (e.g. drawing inspiration from real world), but still useful to aggregate in one place.
- Spikes are useful to bleed enemies to death when they are focused on another target (you), but they have to be repaired and you loose resources in case they are destroyed. I read that they could be used to funnel and kill (or soften) a troll. The trick is that mobs will avoid them if they have a clear path to you. Now, "all" you have to do is to progressively reduce their path's width until they get hit while they still go at you. I never tried this tactic, though.
- If enemies don't attack the beehives, bees won't attack. But you can trigger them by launching a single wooden arrow from a distance. And I don't remember that mobs think about retaliating (only experienced this tactic on Greydwarves, though). You could place beehouses along that path, they will help damage ennemies along the way.

Use anti-air gatling guns for drakes -angriffThat or the stinking bomb FLAK.
