So you're telling me the maps aren't really procedurally-generated? If they've actually already been created, and we're just randomly given one of them, I may be out for this game.

All procedural generated worlds follow a similar technique. Underlying you want to create noise maps and there are different ways to do this, end result is the same anyway. Seeds are used to "reset" the random number generator. When starting an RNG instance with a seed, it will always give the same "random" values in order. Then positions (and many other calculations) in the noise map is calculated from some RNG created offsets. This is why it is possible for everything to look random, but still the same for everyone using the same seed.

There is a map on Reddit that shows the whole possible world of Valheim. The game world is a partial part of that world. Then all the biomes, spawns, etc are calculated out from the partial section.

If this really bothers you and you are "out from this game", then you need to stop/avoid playing games like No Man's Sky, Minecraft, and many others.
