My best Option was to cut down trees an surround the area or plant trees near my house front and back (like seriously as close as the tree will allow, oaks and pines seem to have the best effect) especially pines for flying beasts. something about trees just confuses just about every single mob in the world. Trees sure are magical and cheap.

I also found this technique extremely useful in battle for giving me time to regain stam, since the mobs seem to NEVER EVER RUN OUT OF STAM, that is some BS and they should get a spankin.
