i dont know where people got the info that they dont spawn near workbenches, the only statement i have seen ingame is that they dont spawn near your Buildings

Personally, my group has tested this multiple times, and the workbenches ALWAYS remove the spawn. Always. Not saying you are lying, but the general public is telling you that because that is our experience.
