I'm already noticing a pattern coming in with the most recent update. Hearth & Home swapped the simple food system with something more complex that would require you to spend more time planning how you consume food in the game, making the game in general a bit more complex. It's not that bad and the devs did a proper good job at balancing it, but they have already taken a step towards making the game more complicated, diverging from simple. And sometimes, complicated = tiresome, boring, unfun. Not saying the update was bad, of course.

A "pattern" would dictate that IronGate has a history of creating something that is 'unnecessary' deeming it as bloatware. Since H&H is Valheim's first major update, how did you conclude a pattern here?

Furthermore, according to Valheim's roadmap, the updates within H&H was already planned out. So the 'new' food system was intentional from the get-go. The only reason why many people complained about it, was because they expected a Beta game to be a post-Early Access Version 1.0 game. The complainers whined about the update, because they wanted a bare-bones difficulty with all the goodies that come with a version 1.0 release.
