I really wonder why some people seem to have real problems with the raids and are desperately building trenches.

I never had problems with raids, nor did trolls destroy my wall or anything else. You build palisades or walls, place sharp stakes and it's a nobrainer. Of course, you can't fight the raiders in your base, but rather in front of the city walls.

Would be nice if someone could explain me how you can get problems with the raids. The game has become too easy for me anyway.
