If I were to give starter tips I'd probably go with:
-ALWAYS maintain a rested bonus. You can get one with as little as sitting next to a fire (though if its raining the fire may go out without shelter so, no bonus) but increasing your comfort in the area you are resting will make the bonus last for longer. Your HP and Stamina regenerate faster, i believe you gain skills slightly faster, and it's really easy to keep one going since the lowest duration you can get is 8 minutes.
-Bring arrows, preferably fire arrows. Most things in the Black Forest don't get along well with fire, especially the trolls which are usually the hardest fight for a newer player in that biome (besides dungeon raids). If you can get a stealth shot in you will do extra damage and might also stagger the enemy (if they even survive the initial shot).
-It's good to get used to trolls. They hit real hard, and they are huge with a massive reach...but they are huge, and slow, and surprisingly helpful if used correctly. While they can be surprisingly sneaky for their size, its really hard to miss a target that large with arrows, and you can generally "outrun" them at a casual jog, taking shots when they stop to try and hit you. The armor you can make from them can also carry you into the next biome in progression if you are cautious and smart about your approach. They can also help you gather materials to. They can hit surrounding structures or destructibles (like trees, rocks, ore nodes) and can actually break pretty much anything in their biome that can be broken...including the trees and ore nodes.
-Food is god in this game, what you eat determines whether you live or die, succeed or fail, roughly 80% of the time (it can vary, some play this game naked so itd be closer to 90% for them, but most rely on the aid of their gear as well. Plus meads exist). Meat based food tends to be more health focused. Plant based foods tend to be more stamina focused. Some dishes are decently balanced between the two (like jerkies tend to be). What you are doing usually determines which food mixes you favor (more HP focus when expecting to fight a lot or difficult enemies, or more stamina focus if exploring/fishing/building/mining/running around kinds of things) but no matter what you end up picking, never go without food. Something is better than nothing. Of course, the right food is always best, dont expect red mushrooms and cooked boar to keep you alive in the next area on their own, even if they still give you a better chance than the default 25 HP.
-Since you have beaten the first boss and can mine, CAULDRON, if you haven't already. See previously mentioned "food is god" principal. Cauldron is where most of the food from now on will be made. If you haven't done a dungeon to get the kiln/smelter up yet, see back to the "trolls hate fire and make good armor" notes. Also when you do get bronze, be aware that you don't have to make EVERYTHING you just unlocked. like the bronze armor does offer slightly better armor than the troll, for a movement speed penalty, no set bonus (troll adds to your sneak ability), and a significant time investment. It's often better to just stick with troll and apply your bronze to your new tools and weapons (like you probably do want the bronze axe and pick, and whatever melee you favor, and you may consider taking up a blunt option like the mace for enemies like skeletons).
