They're weak to fire.

Techniques to fight them that I've seen used:

1. Standing on the top of swamp crypts and using arrows. They typically if you're on the larger top most flat surface unable to attack you and you can just pelt them with arrows accordingly.

2. Per point 1 you can also opt to use a sledge hammer but that'll also destroy the torches at the crypt if that is a concern.

3. If you're fast and good at dodging then using an axe on them can work but you've got to be able to get out of their attacks quickly.

4. Bonefire. Its an unconventional method but placing one down and leading them into it can work because its just tall enough to block them. Some passive challenge run people use this method.
