After H&H I don't really feel comfortable starting in the mountains with bronze and make Iron.

Troll is good for just starting into the BF crypts, but feel safer in full bronze for the swamps.. especially with the new swamp miniboss.

The new root armor from that boss has a low movement penalty but is about like bronze?

Still don't think I would want to start into the mountains with it over Iron.

I am sure some people can handle the plains in underwear with no food.... so basically it's up to you. I don't like to die and lose skill progress, so I tend to play more cautiously.

Basically my rule of thumb is that if I get stunned while blocking a hit.. that is bad. That means multiple enemies can stun lock you and tear you up. With the changes to blocking related to food you really have to be careful.
I assumed last i played that bronze to wolf was normal i had upgraded kit of bronze and got destroyed. I see no reason anyone would go there with bronze lol. I get completely wrecked I think I regretted my choices for one second before i died. Shield didnt even help.

I honestly wasnt expecting it to be that bad but I dont think i even damaged the wolf.
You could do it pretty easily before H&H update. It almost feels like the changes they made were intended to force a "proper" armor progression. I find it balanced quite well now if you are in the proper armor. But a lot more dangerous if you are not.

That said I still need to get a set of root armor to see how all that fits. I think they may be moving to a dual line of armor with light and heavy... too early to tell where they may be taking it though.
