Because the pool of people that create/use mods are a beautiful duality of humankind. They are, at any given instance, both hardworking visionaries and cancerous whiners.

They want what they want out of the experience, regardless of the original mindset of the developer, and they know how to go get it. It'd be admirable, if it wasn't so often irritating.
