You can either search in the server finder for "pass, or password" and the name will have the password in the server name.

OR (this is better) google valheim servers. There are multiplayer servers you can join, but you must apply thru discord to get into most.

People can't simply kill another player. There is no PVP per se. BOTH parties have to agree and turn on their friendly fire, like if they want to duel or something. One player can't sneak up and just start killing people. By default, players are immune to damage from other players.
