I have made all kinds. Probably the largest housed the stone fire pit on raised ground inside the middle of the house with an entry to the house on each side and a window to see it from outside. Big interior chimney classic house style.

I put the house on stilts to start before I had iron or stone to work with. Raised the ground in one corner in the right front for a fire just outside so I could just deflect it away from the side of the house but have the wall open inside to cook on with bed and comfort area there.

As I got stone I built up on the rocks there a platform just below the floor level but close enough to the bed and comfort zone for the hearth to count.

Just outside of the comfort zone here but a half step to the left is comfort level 13. Don't have a stone throne or dragon bed yet.
