The complaints you mentioned can be solved by using in-game signs for organizing loot effectively or as you said, downloading .. 1, 2... 2 mods. If you're taking more time to find 2 mods to solve your issues with the game then I don't think this is the genre of game for you. Survival/crafting games always place emphasis on inventory management.

And you're not damned if you use mods. The modding community is super tight on updating their mods in preparation for a game update.
