Personally I feel the term hype came to be here more so because a lot on console players have moved to doing more pc gaming. Hype is used more in console gaming from what I've seen and seems to keep being brought up in game genres for PC that don't really have a use for the term.

Look at this have for instance. Look how much hype is thrown around, or the concern for player numbers, which have no effect on Valheim really (other than negativity when people flock to it and see it isn't what they expected, due to hype). It's all about sales.
