If the game was like this to your taste back then, there is absolutely no reason why it would be any different now. And I can predict that it won't be any different upon release and any time soon.

You would have known this already if you had read the roadplan one or two years ago.
However, on the UI and eye-candy side, a slight difference could be reached by upgrading your computer to a high level (or waiting for another optimization pass), and planning to use a handful of somewhat heavy graphical and UI mods. But even so, the game's spirit would not change, thankfully.
