Ew, is it really getting that bad?

I've been setting up dedicated game servers and networking ♥♥♥♥ for years, I only heard people talking ambiguously about "Running out of IP addresses" but I lived through Y2K, so I just immediately dismissed it as another way to sell old bottled water.

Idk really, only have own limited experiance, but where i live (poland) some BIG isps are doing NAT with no way out. Previously you could buy yourself out at one time fee at least, and even earlier NATs were only on wifi rural internets. I got lucky with fiber that offers external IP still but its not cheap.

Oh yes, it's really getting that bad with IPv4 addresses only(!). I count myself lucky that I still get a new routeable IPv4 address every day. Most ISPs here do CGN (=Carrier Grade NAT) too.
But IPv6 is no problem usually. Only some mobile ISPs/networks don't use it afaik.
Valheim is IPv6 compatible so all that shouldn't be a problem....

Yeah, Im old enough to use physical dictionaries from time to time, so know the value of good documentation too. The times are moving on thou. ....
Then you may even be a bit older than me - I'm not sure I ever really used a physical dictionary. :-) And while time is moving on it's my opinion that YT is what one should recommend last... matter of opinion / to each their own (to some degree).
But while I quoted you a lot my reply was not intended to be a directed at you - forgot to make that clear... :steamfacepalm:

And look at the OP again, hes not even using a good translator, nor has idea of dedi servers, he'll barely understand basics here. Most likely chance of getting anywhere is a video guide, at least IMHO.
Maybe - I like to assume/expect more experience at first....

I do appreciate the links thou!
Junctions are great, but I'd be wary of using it online... Valheim saves can be base for few server instances (in different sessions), last one out the door gets to save. So it could happen that both friends play solo by mistake and one looses progress.
At this complexity point remote start of the server on the friends PC could work too haha.
My pleasure.
Yeah, junctions are not to be trifled with and using another sync method may be more complex.
