As survival game where your actions have consequences?

Exactly.

@Benevolent
I'm pretty sure the game thinks it's stupid for you to fall off your house.

This is a survival game. It's supposed to be hard, and punishing. It's not a build-a-USS-enterprise-out-of-wood game, although you can (and this ability is probably the #1 reason it took off like it did).

If you don't think it's difficult, then you are simply geared to the point where it isn't (except of course for the gravity boss, which completely owned you). But early on trying to mine silver and getting owned by wolves ... it wasnt so easy.

My first death was trying to sail to the second boss area and the wind blowing my barely-controllable ship into a swamp area where I was promptly pounced on by a blob and about 8 leeches that were drawn to my tasty newb viking thighs. I still remember staring at the screen wondering what just happened.

But I survived.

See, there HAS to be SOME punishment for dying. That's what makes it worthwhile to plan, properly gear, and approach that thing-you've-never-seen-before cautiously.

The game already gives you all your stuff back, even if you die more than once (or in the ocean). That's pretty generous.

If you can't get back into a scary area because you didn't plan and have backup gear (which is the lesson I learned from the above), then that's on you. If you went too far into a new area without understanding the dangers, that's on you for being Leroy Jenkins. If you fall off a house because you didn't build platforms to stand on properly, well ...

[Sorry, I just mentally reviewed some of the really rough deaths I've experienced in this game and the treacherous journeys to get my stuff back - then I pictured you falling off your house]

I dont see how its fitting were you lose skills points used in combat from dying to cozy, laid back base building lmao. idk maybe I think the consequences should be justified and reasonable.
