Honestly, Valheim is (was?) not a typical survival type game. I never liked any other survival games, but I did like Valheim, for whatever reason. ...that so many come into a survival game just to render the point of it moot by adding a thousand mods. Not really a gripe, just a legit and serious question. Of curiosity.
I can understand things like separate gear slots, etc for quality of life. But straight up things like flying, water walking, invincibility to a character or ship... just don't get it.
Also, I think, in Valheim you face those limitation harder, the further you get:
- Inventory (slots and weight) - You are most of the time out of space, forcing you to get back to base to get rid
- Distance - If you are really far away, you can use portals, but no metals. Otherwise, you have to run back or just build another base. Both options sound painful most of the time.
- Day/Night - It feels, that daytime is too short and nighttime also forces to go back to base.
I know, that everything is part of the philosophy of Valheim, but it feels a bit artificial sometimes.
