they are for decoration, as they look a lot nicer. The only reason the poles don’t rot in the rain is because tar is used in the recipe which repels water, so they made them waterproof. I doubt there will be extra options for darkwood considering it’s not meant to be used as waterproof wood and instead just for decor, as the waterproof part is simply extra.
