Anyhow, this is from a no portals run just before the base was abandoned.

The house is on struts, forge, fermenter, and various upgrades tacked on the back. Very minimal leveling done except to get things like Kiln and Smelter to place. You can see part of the 'farm' - beehives to the left, farm wraps around front of house and almost to the smelter/kiln. The 'moat' on the left is entirely courtesy of the map generator.

BTW: I think I've come up with a better and cheaper way of protecting the big door gates from weather damage. Maybe I'll get a screenshot of that later, it's at my Anti-Port.

Aha, the simpler gate protection works! Here's the Anti-Port with nav beacon, construction dock, and ship storage chest. Salvage slip is between chest and dock.
