there are hundreds of posts on how to make a home safe from invasions as well; most involve terrain manipulation or your own deserted island.

Now you know.. a basic home with wood defenses isn't going to stop anything serious, and skeletons are a tier 2 (of about 6 tiers on an exponential scale) enemy. Later your home will be raided by things that can break wood like it was not even there.
