Not really. The skills don't really seem to give THAT much of an improvement(except Jumping which doesn't really seem to improve landing last I checked).

Skill loss is really more insult to injury most of the time.

EDIT: Also, if people can on average stage within a certain range anyway, why have the skill loss at all when they could just lower the skill max to somewhere in the 25-50 range and get "the same results" in practice by your own standards?
