With proper base defenses in place there are very few raids you'd even have to think about. If you don't have a well defended base then yes, raids are rough. Trench and walls are your friends, or building on an easily defended space like an island. Almost nothing will reach you aside from the bat raids.

Raids are really trivial if you have a solid defensive bulwark. My personal preference is building on an island right off the coast (usually black forest), raising earth for fortification and the water is a giant moat around it. I've had a bunch of raids and I usually just ignore them while doing things, unless the raid has something I want to loot (like killing the Rancid Remains in the Skeleton Surprise event). The only events I have to think about are the drakes and bats at this point, which are relatively minor.

It's a survival game that features raids--therefore, build defenses accordingly. Not doing so just sets yourself up for things getting destroyed periodically, which is frustrating. Learned that early in the game, adapted to build better defenses to not suffer through it. Part of the game, once you know then not adapting to the changing circumstances just leads to being upset.

As for higher level mobs appearing at night--by then you should be well geared so they aren't much of a threat overall. And with a well defended base you can always retreat back inside your base and not worry about the outside mobs. And as always, at night the difficulty goes up, so don't go out at night unless you're prepared to deal with more/tougher mobs. Again, adapting to the circumstances. That's how survival games work, wanting it to be otherwise is counterintuitive.
