The game isn't over and drop wasn't even real. Just a placeholder.

You really want them to take time and money away for a song and dance when they could be working on the game? Why?

Do you seek validation in your life through video games so they need to tell you when you get to a certain point?

I honestly wondering what you want to be told.. "Thanks for playing, wait for new content"?
It isn't over just from beating the last available boss.

I think a lot of people would be pretty upset when the game finally does get an "end" that it takes you away from the world you built up. But even Odin showing up to say "Thanks buddy" seems a bit premature at this stage.

Not wasting time on temporary content like that is a good sign. It means they intend to finish the game.
