I've already shown that space is not the issue here and that the area gets plenty of light. Even if I had a large open area, cage floor pieces still act as solid pieces that do not allow certain effects to pass through.

Yup, I mentioned that in my OP. I want to use cage floors to keep Deathsquitoes out while allowing the sunlight effect for crops to pass through. Also, cage floors look like lattice ceilings if used that way. Similar to something that looks like these examples:
