If it wasn't like that you could simply run away/portal away from your base every raid and have no worries since as soon as you are far enough away everything unloads and nothing would be damaged. Then you could just come back after the raid ended.

And what would be so bad about this? Would that affect YOUR game if I played like this?
I would even like to have an option where I could turn off these raids. When I bought the game a few months ago, Steam didn't say anything about tower defense.

I bet there is a mod for this.
