It's not new to Valheim.
Only difference besides the type of pewpew, is now our chars can channel into that, no longer just being in the recieving end.
Rubbing the strung head of a dead boss to recieve its power and being able to manifest it at will seems rather magical as well, and has been in the game as long as strining up boss trophies have been a thing.

The first boss also shoots lighting at you, and now i get to murder it with skeletons.
