I played through it solo, had no real problems other than the occasional difficult to recover from death.

Sometimes it's better alone because you have a mission in mind and don't want to convince your friends to do it too. Grinding is more fun with someone to talk to, but taking down large groups of enemies on your own is somehow more satisfying than watching your friend constantly knock-back them away from your arrow.

Anywho, yeah try it solo. Just remember the bosses aren't scaled for solo and that some may require careful preparation and strategy solo. And a few deaths. So have back-up gear to recover your old stuff.
