This is a crafting and building game just as much as it's a survival and combat game. If players want to focus on the former rather than the latter, that should be their choice.

I don't understand why people are so opposed to accessibility and difficulty preferences in games, they only serve to expand the potential audience who can find a way to enjoy the product.

Every other crafting and survival game I've played features expansive and useful difficulty options, admin panels that allow users to tweak server settings, and a host of other options to allow players to customize their play experience to their personal preferences.

The fact that Valheim lacks these things is not a point in its favor, its a sign that the development team has decided to force their 'vision' onto players, rather than letting players enjoy Valheim on their own terms.

It's a brutal survival game...at least it is for now. With all the complaints and requests for dumbing down the game and making it friendly/easy, if the devs cave to any of that then this will not be brutal or a survival game. Maybe those with less game time available or the lack of interest in a challenging game should select games that fit their difficulty preferences instead of expecting games to cater to their needs. If it's REALLY that big of an issue then yeah, there are mods for all that. The solution is available to anyone who really needs something different than what the vanilla game offers.

Has nobody in your life ever explained to you the concept of 'options'?
It means you can still play your super-special hardcore 'git good' style if you want to; but not everyone else needs to. It wouldn't impact you at all unless you let it.
