Most of the posts are from people running 20 & 30 series NVidia cards and would rather blame the game than look to their own system. Of 6 Mil+ players, only about 5% of those are experiencing issues.
Which is still a significant amount of angry people if their' hardware is damaged. Re: psu wattage... I know what I'm doing, have tested with a voltmeter and at the very highest tdp my system uses less than 450 watts at 100% load, I've even verified that by doing ac/dc conversion at the component level, from the wall. My psu is rock solid and should last another 5 years without concern. Thanks for the suggestion though.
That test won't always work, if your psu is failing.. you probably won't see it, until after you crash. When you can't test it. What is your psu btw? Surely not a 450? Gpu's use a standard power supply.. when running nothing. When running anything else.. that base supply isn't enough. Rx580.. I use a 600 watt. It probably would switch on with a 450 or 500.. but with hdd, ssd's m2 drives, fans, cpu, gpu all wailing with bottlenecks.. your power usage is all over the place. And unoptimised Ea's will sorely test you.
It's awfully suspicious that the symptoms have been mentioned elsewhere. I'm not drinking the coolaid, I only mentioned that as an easy google result. A power supply is way cheaper to replace than a card these days, I checked that first before the system would no longer boot. I then swapped out some components reseated everything except the cpu and even tried the gpu in a separate machine with different games and then valheim. It's true I could be incredibly unlucky having both cards begin to fail at the same time, but I can't explain it otherwise, and it's worth looking into. But regardless.. you'll be convinced by now because some half dozen people on reddit said it.. it has to be the absolute truth.
In the majority of overheating cases.. it's actually the power supply at fault.
All I can say.. is I'm not having this issue.
My spec:
Ryzen 3600x
B550 Gigabyte Aorus Elite with F2 bios. (X570 chipset)
32 gb ddr4 ram, running at 2100.
Rx 580 Gigabyte Strix. 8 gb gpu.
Using Win 10 Professional. May 2020 update.
Current temp on idle is 48 degrees c.
Under stress around dunno.. not checked :D
70-71 degrees C. During a storm. 24% vram in use. 15 % cpu and 25% ram in use.
Using 117 watts of power atm. Temp rose to 74% during fight with a troll and some dwarves.
Oh and I'm playing on a dedicated server, dunno what if any difference that makes.
