Stamina system is fine, just need to learn how to use it.
Those valleys can be sprinted out of, just like the mountains.
Just like real life, rafts are for very short trips. Getting across a large river or lake.
Enemies don't have that huge of aggro range, you just aren't paying attention. And they don't chase you that far.
I have never had an enemy spawn in front of me unless there is a spawner there.
That's is why boats have a row speed. So you can go against the wind.
But yeah it is the game not you....
