Sounds like you have had a bad experience to me, not that the game is actualy bad.
If you were expecting to spend 10-20 hours on the game and move on, sure then the grinding can be too much.
Building is fine for the most part although i can see how annoying it can feel to spend 30 minutes collecting wood before building anything of permanent value.

This is much more of a 100 hour game and expecting anything else is weird.

A players unwillingness to put in any kind of effort is not a valid excuse.
